Contributions Challenges:

We chose this Challenge:

Here we are once again. This year the topic we chose to talk about was cyberbullying. We find it very interesting because it’s so spread above the world, especially above teenagers.

As a short introduction, cyberbullying is mostly the action of being virtually bullied and oppressed by others, where the main tool is the blackmail.

There are many horrific cases of cyberbullying whose consequence had been suicide, self-harm and dissapearings.

Questions and Answers:

1.Have you ever experienced cyberbullying? If yes, describe your story .

  • Sofia (16 years old) : I have, but it’s never been something way too personal.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : Fortunately, I haven’t experienced this.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : No, I have not, although, I have seen that people have the tendency to be braver on the internet than in real life in case of a conflict. I’m talking about swearing and making threats.
  • Maria (15 years old) : Yes, I experienced cyberbullying in the 6th grade. It all started at the beginning of the year, when someone made a fake account on facebook using my name, and there were published some of my secrets. I felt ashamed and heartbroken because I was sure that one of my “friends” did it.

2.What would your reaction be if a friend of yours experienced cyberbullying?

  • Sofia (16 years old) : I would try to comfort them and help them ignore the situation.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : I think I would tell that friend that he’s important for a lot of people and if someone doesn’t like him , it’s not meaning that he isn’t important for others.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : I would like to explain to him that words thrown  at  him on  the internet don’t mean  a thing and that he should not make a big deal out of it. Of course, it’s upsetting but at the end of the day, what happens on the internet is different than what happens in real life.
  • Maria (15 years old) : I would try to help him immediately and stop it because I know how hard it is to pass through cyberbulling.

3.Does your local school train you in a particular way regarding cyberbullying defense?

  • Sofia (16 years old) : No, I don’t think my local school is even aware of cyberbullying.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : Sometimes, the teacher tell us how to protect ourselves of this phenomenon and how it shouldn’t influence us at all. Also, it was discussed at the students’ consultation class.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : Not in particular. We have had one or two courses in the past, but they weren’t serious. We talk about it once a year.
  • Maria (15 years old) : No, my school doesn’t  have this kind of programme, but it should have  because this process starts at early ages and you should be prepared.

4.What would you do in case of experiencing internet abuses and how do you prevent it?

  • Sofia (16 years old) : I’d try to ignore the comments and I’d try to prevent it the next by not sharing as much information as in the past about myself and my privacy.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : If I experienced that type of abuse, I’d like to believe that I’m not influenced but I think that if my friends, family and people who know me the best are close to me, I mustn’t give importance to others. About preventing it I think it’s simple : I don’t message strange people on internet and I don’t respond to strange messages.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : I would block strangers and  I would politely ask a bully that I know in real life to meet up with me and talk face to face. If it doesn’t stop after the meeting , I will simply block that user.
  • Maria (15 years old) : You could prevent it by keeping your social media accounts private, but if it happens to you the first thing you have to do is blocking them and don’t respond because if you do, you’ll never escape from it, it will be a chain reaction with violence.

5.Have you ever cyberbullied anybody? If yes, what was the reason and do you regret it?

  • Sofia (16 years old) : I have unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of the consequences.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : I haven’t cyberbullied anyone and that makes me feel very good ‘cus that’s a guarantee that nobody was in a bad spot because of me.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : What I say on the internet mimics what I believe and say in real life. So, no, I’ve never cyberbullied anyone before.
  • Maria (15 years old) : No, I’ve never cyberbullied anyone because I’ve felt it on my own.

6.What are your words for those who got through cyberbullying? What would you recommend them?

  • Sofia (16 years old) : I’d recommend them to stay away for sometime from any type of social media, it’s healthier for the mind.
  • Georgiana ( 14 years old) : I wish them happiness because they deserve it. I know that they are strong people with the ability to get over all obstacles.
  • Bogdan (17 years old) : Just don’t take it personal, cyberbullies are weak people who are afraid of a real life confrontation. The ones who lost are them, not you. Just block them and move on with your life.
  • Maria (15 years old) : I would tell them not to take it personally because the person who did that doesn’t the courage to express face to face.

Hello. I really liked the website of your school. I couldn't really understand the text, because it wasn't in English, but I liked the movie. Your school looks very pretty.
